Si la série des jeux de stratégie tactique Commandos s'est fourvoyée dans son quatrième volet en adoptant un gameplay tourné vers le FPS, les développeurs de Desperados n'ont pas fait cette erreur et sa suite conserve donc le même principe que son illustre modèle. On se retrouve donc aux commandes d'une équipe de six personnages, dans un jeu où vos neurones doivent être en position ON.
